When it's my turn to bat...

I can remember when I was younger, dreaming about how fun it would be to finish high school and leave the house, but now that it is Junior year and that dream is quickly approaching, it's kind of scary. With colleges sending info about how I should choose them, and my mom breathing down my neck about which ones I'm seriously considering, I'm a little apprehensive about graduating. Since I have lived in so many different places and have had the opportunity to travel, it has opened my eyes about how vast this world is we live in, and all the different paths in life I can take. Knowing that my sister has moved out on her own and has started a whole new life for herself inspires me to think that I can do that too. I want to move back to the place I grew up and go to college and start a family some day, but I'm scared to leave my comfort zone behind and start over. I still think of myself as young and not ready to leave, and I wonder if, when the time comes, will I be able to step up to plate?

Lizzie- You will be able to step up to the plate no doubt. You will have no trouble moving out into the world on your own. You are a smart girl, you have a big, bright future ahead of you. Don't worry, but make sure when you leave that you write or facebook or something often. Good luck with your future it's only a matter of time until it's here and you will be ready when it comes. Don't worry. Love ya!

I know you're going to be able to do anything you set your mind to, and I know you'll set your expectations high. You are going to have so much success in life... you are well prepared, in my opinion, for anything that will be thrown at you. And don't worry, I am terrified of graduation as well. It is going to be weird to start over and leave what we know and love. Leaving friends, family, and a place that we've been dependant on for so long seems like a bad thing, but I know that everything will turn out well. What have we been working for if it doesn't? And what would life be like if we just stayed in high school forever and never went on to apply our "training" to real life anyway?

Exactly what I was talking about! I wrote a blog exactly about the same thing...I don't know how things will turn out for me either. I mean I don't want to leave yet I do because I've never experienced it. Hopefully we don't lose touch with those around us; that is what I'm afraid of.

Liz- what a great analogy-- you will be fine. Moving away and starting a new life is much like the traveling adventures you have had. Embrace new opportunities and seek out new challenges. They will help you go far in life!! You will hit a homerun!!!!
